OUR STORY

Through years of experience and research in the field we have come to see and know the many benefits of physical fitness and creative expression. Exercising releases endorphins, which are often referred to as the “happy” hormone. By design, boxing is a physically demanding sport and therefore, a great way to release endorphins. Boxing not only aids in the release of endorphins through intense exercise, but the nature of the sport itself, allows the opportunity to practice mindfulness. Being mindful can lessen ruminating thoughts, which can decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression. While boxing, one must focus on the “here and now,” by quieting the mind and outside world.

Various forms of art on the other hand, enrich the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative processes, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship. We know the mind and body are connected and therefore, we aim to treat the whole person whether through conversation, canvas, or focus mitts.
